GENERAL INFORMATION
The English Preparatory Program offered at our college is designed to enable students to achieve level B1 (CEFR).
For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Preparatory Program consists of 29 weeks and 696 hours of instruction.
24 hours of instruction are provided per week, consisting of 16 hours of Main Course, 4 hours of Reading & Writing, and 4 hours of Listening & Speaking.
In accordance with the decision of our university senate, Preparatory Program courses are delivered face-to-face.
GENERAL PASSING GRADE AND EXAMS
The Preparatory Program Passing Grade is calculated by adding 60% of the midterm grade and 40% of the final exam grade. Students who achieve a final Preparatory Program Passing Grade of 70 or above are considered to have successfully completed the preparatory program.
Intra-Term Passing Grade
Midterm exams, quizzes, and online assignments are calculated based on the grades received. The midterm exam accounts for 60% of the passing grade.
Midterm Exams
Two midterm exams are administered throughout the year: one at the end of the first term and one at the end of the second term. The midterm exams account for 30% of the passing grade.
Quizzes
Four quizzes are administered throughout the year: two in Term 1 and two in Term 2. These quizzes constitute 20% of the passing grade.
Online Assignments
Assignments must be completed within the allotted timeframes, as specified in the online assignment systems provided with the textbooks. The grade received from these online assignments constitutes 10% of the overall final grade.
Final Exam and Overall Achievement Grade (Preparatory Class Passing Grade)
The final exam covers the student's academic performance throughout the year. Students take both a written and oral exam. The final exam accounts for 40% of the overall achievement grade. The final exam consists of two stages: written and oral. Each stage accounts for 50% of the final grade.
Make-up Exams
These are exams administered to students who miss midterm and quizzes due to excuses. There are no make-up exams for the final or exemption exams.
There are no make-up exams. Students who fail the preparatory class are entitled to take the Preparatory Education exemption exam at the beginning of the next semester.
